Bold. Daring. Driven to challenge the status quo.

Enter the Machine.

The all-new 2011 Scion tC, which was introduced to automotive journalists at a press preview event the first week of August, is a machine that pumps up performance and makes premium standard. It takes an aggressive stance, in design and demeanor.

Its power comes from a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that produces 180 horsepower, 19 more horsepower than the current model. The new dual VVT-i engine also has more torque and better fuel efficiency. Drivers can choose a new six-speed manual or an automatic transmission that features sequential shift.

The second-generation tC grips the road with standard 18-inch alloy wheels and wider tires. The brakes are bigger. The exhaust system provides a sportier throaty note.

2011.Scion.tC.cabin.low.123Styling is muscular and masculine, with sharp edges and an athletic body. The protruding fender flares complement a sleek front grille and projector headlamps.

A panoramic moonroof spans the cockpit, which features a thicker tilt-telescopic steering wheel with a flat bottom. Metallic accents create a 3-D effect on the gauges, which glow with deep orange lighting.

The beat goes on with a standard audio system that puts out 300 watts total. Eight speakers are strategically mounted in the doors and rear quarter trim. An iPod can be plugged into a new USB port.

Inside and out, the car exudes an elegant edginess.

“After the phenomenal success of the first-generation tC, it was only natural that an all-new model would redefine its segment and meet the desires of the evolving sports coupe buyer,” says Scion Vice President Jack Hollis. “The tC is an aspirational vehicle for young buyers who have achieved early success in their lives and careers. It’s a premium vehicle that makes a statement about who they are as they define their own world.”2011 Scion tC pair.low

It’s a machine that embodies fearlessness and a sense of empowerment. A machine that is classy without being swanky. A machine that may break the rules but won’t break the bank.
