Don't be a loser! Be a reuser! That admonition is one of 116 environmental slogans conceived by Toyota associates as part of Earth Day celebrations across the nation. Words were accompanied by work that transformed associates and their families into green machines.

Toyota Motor Sales built the South Campus expansion, officially opened on Earth Day 10 years ago, to accommodate a growing workforce. Along the way, the LEED-certified structure has inspired environmentally sensitive development well beyond the Torrance, Calif.-based campus.

When Scion burst on the scene 10 years ago, it was meant to serve as a laboratory to test new approaches in automotive retailing. That’s still true, as evidenced by the latest experiment: car sharing.

What was ravaged in minutes can take months to restore. Four months after Hurricane Sandy pummeled homes and lives, Toyota donated the use of 20 vehicles to the Red Cross and a local church to support recovery efforts for one year.
