Trail Mix: Associates Go On – and Off – the Road

Go with the Floe – Rebecca Kramer Rosengard, TMS product marketing planner, cruises through a crystalline day in an “Adventure Yaris” during her June honeymoon in Iceland.
A white Yaris sails through a panoramic landscape in Iceland. A silver 4Runner and Tacoma wend their way through wildflowers in the Mojave Desert.

Toyota associates set the bar when it comes to R&R.

Or, in the case of Chicago Region associate Erica Bruno, R&R&R: rest and recuperation and rescue. Her snazzy little Scion tC saved her boyfriend’s vintage Chevy truck on an Illinois country road.

And we’ve got the pictures to prove it. They were submitted to Driver’s Seat in response to a recent call for photos of Toyota vehicles (and associates) on vacation.

We’re posting some of our favorites today, and we’ll post more later this week. We’re also looking for additional photos (hey, Labor Day is still several weeks away).

Cream of the Crop – Michael Stewart, NAPO procurement supervisor, takes the lead in his Tacoma in a two-Toyota caravan through a crop of desert dandelions in Southern California’s Mojave Desert. Following him in a 4Runner is his father, a retired mammalogy/herpetology professor who is fluent in flora.
Please e-mail your photos to DriverSeat@toyota.com by Tuesday, Aug. 23, along with a brief description of your trip. In the meantime, buckle up and enjoy a virtual journey to Iceland, Illinois and beyond.
Saving Chevy 2
Roadside Rescue – A Scion tC provides a lifeline to a vintage Chevy truck next to a Southern Illinois cornfield over the 4th of July weekend. Erica Bruno, Chicago Region sales, service and distribution analyst, says her boyfriend used to tease her about driving her “city” car into the country. “Well, it looks great in the country – and it even saved my boyfriend’s Chevy antique truck when it broke down on the side of the road,” she wrote. “Here is a great shot from the ‘incident that won’t be mentioned again’ as he refers to it – ha, ha!”

On the Edge – What are the odds? Larry Lopez, customer service rep at TFS-Western, encountered another Chevy in distress while taking a 4th of July trip to Fossil Creek, Ariz. “We encountered this brand new Chevy pickup, just hanging on over the edge of a ravine about 10 minutes from Highway 260 on Fossil Creek Road,” he wrote. “The vehicle appeared to have been left by the owner in hopes of returning with help.”

River Run – Philip Dawson, Central Atlantic Toyota field technical specialist, carries a boatload on his Camry Hybrid before wrestling with a whitewater river in the mountains of southeast Pennsylvania. “For whitewater paddlers in the Mid-Atlantic region, the Lower Youghiogheny (pronounced yock-o-gay-nee, or just yock for short) is hallowed ground,” he wrote.
